Novi City Council

The Novi City Council interviewed five candidates who hope to fill the seat left by council member Kathy Crawford on November 29.  Crawford was recently elected to County Commissioner of Oakland County's 9th District.  Crawford will leave her term one year before it is up.
"If I had to go through that interview process among those people, I probably wouldn't have been sitting up here," said Crawford.
"They really had done their homework.  That was the most exciting thing to me," said Crawford.  "They had really studied up about the council."
Novi Mayor David Landry said that each candidate would have five minutes to give an opening statement.  Then the seven-member council will be able to ask each candidate two questions.  Landry said he would allow a second round of questions from current council members if necessary.
"Relax.  That's the idea," said Landry.  "It takes a lot of guts to open yourselves up to questions."
The council will vote on who they want to select as the newest member, however, Crawford will not vote as this was her last meeting.
